but...Modern Warfare 2 server will have PB

I think most MW2 servers will have PB in the beginning. I probably won't play both. Once I start a new game, I usually don't go back unless I need to.

I agree with jibble.

PB slows down the game and is useless in my eyes. it doesnt ban all hacks, there is still need for admins also; for other types of rule breakers. And weed, if we loose 70% of our people by switching to PB, then those people dont deserve to play on this server(s) they should just get the PB update (i had too do it took me 5minutes-google PB update ) its easy and fast. that way you can play on PB servers also. PB is overrated, or underrated not sure .

PB isn't bad. It wouldn't slow the server down at all if the PBHUB didn't spam messages when people connect. That is where the lag rolls in. When people connect, there are very small lag spikes if your connection is bad and with PB spamming those messages, it's 10 times worse. Not sure if there's a way to disable that feature, but that would eliminate much of the unneeded lag. On top of that, I'm not entirely sure hacks will be developed when MW2 is released. It'll be some time before the hacks are released.

Its PBBans that sends the messages when somebody gets banned.

Those should not generate lag though, they are simple commands from a master server as far as I can see...

But PunkBuster will lag servers down slightly, but the game was developed around punkbuster, and therefore can generally use it fine. PunkBuster is a great idea, but I don't think it was ever.. developed enough.. Now I think developers feel pressured to either use PB or to develop their own.

But sites like PBBans, Punkbusted, etc.. All make great use of the PB api, and do noticeably keep servers clean...

If you want to keep lag spikes down, don't use Xfire in-game.. Seen the spikes when you get a pop-up?

Like it was said, Punkbuster is not on the FPSOverload server, because PB was a problem for Windows 7 users. Now, we know we will loose most of our players.

BULLSHIT. do u think they can't play cuz of an update? if that would have been a problem, any baby knows to do an update. they can't play because something like this shit: for example I couldn't play on PB servers cuz of Windows 7. doesn't matter what update and setting I made, PB DOES NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 7, until 2 months ago when a fix was found. so are u saying that those people don't deserve to play? PB sees what he wants to see. sees that some programs are malware or hacks, whatever. I can't play with uTorrent on cuz I get kicked after 2 mins. can I fix that with an update? NO. suck on this beautiful x)

I may be the only one lagging then. When I play on my friend's server, which is usually about 25/32 people, I lag like hell but my ping is around 50-60. It might just be me then. My xfire doesn't lag at all either.

I doubt Pb makes you lag that much more, doesnt effect me all that much (exept promod).

And your lag on other servers jibble may be due to the location of the server, lag spikes from other players and a few other things. Xfire makes me lag when messages come up, not that i dont lag anyway.
