Thread: Where and how do I find my GUID?

"Where do I find my GUID? What is a GUID?" Noticed that this is a frequently asked question, so I'll make a short tutorial if you like to call it that way.

GUID stands for Globally Unique Identifier and it's used by a large number of applications and websites to track their users, but even by some PC games, like Call of Duty 4, who assigns a GUID to every unique CD-key, making it simple for us, admins, or Punkbuster, to keep track of the players without revealing their CD-key, which is something personal. That being said, there are 2 ways to find it, both by using the ingame console.

First: If you are an admin, the easiest way to find all the guids for all the players that are on the server, is this:
1. Join COD4
2. Join any of our COD4 servers
3. Login into rcon
4. Press Shift + ~ to extend the console tab
5. Type in "/rcon status" or "/pb_plist" if the server is PB-based and a list with all the players will drop down, showing their client number, ping, score, and last but not least, their GUID. If you can't see it after typing that in, scroll down until it appears



Second: This is the easiest way to find your own GUID. Any player can do it, you don't need admin privileges or anything. All your have to do is to join any punkbuster based (!) COD4 server, expand the console (SHIFT+~) and type in "/pb_myguid" and your guid will appear at the bottom of the page or "/pb_plist" to see the guids for all the players. Done
