Thread: [Tutorial] How to kick/ban people (100% working in any case)

Hey, I just thought I made a quick tutorial for less experienced admins
Basically when you join the server, login with the rcon password. Therefore open your console and type

Code:

/rcon login <password> 
//example
/rcon login mypassword123

Once you detect a rule breaker, you can kick him with the following command.

Code:

/rcon kick <username>
//example
/rcon kick MisterX

If the user got spaces in his name you can uses quotation marks

Code:

/rcon kick "Mister X"

If the user got a weird name or whatever, you can kick him by id. Therefor, open your full console (SHIFT+Console-Open-Key) Then Type

Code:

/clear //optional but it gets you better overview
/rcon status //gets you the player list, look for the player id (number in the very front)
/rcon clientkick <id>
//example
/rcon clientkick 3

Here are some other commands for kicking/banning

Code:

/rcon kick <username>
/rcon tempbanuser <username>
/rcon banuser <username>
/rcon clientkick <id>
/rcon tempbanclient <id>
/rcon banclient <id>

How can I ban a namechanger? Here's my trick:

Code:

/clear
/rcon status //look for a username that appears twice and keep both IDs in mind
/rcon status //check both IDs for another username 
/rcon banclient <id>

You will find out that soon, little bit practice will do it

btw guys whats the new rcon pass again? ;x i have the rcon pass binded but i also want it for rcon tools.. sorry but can i get it again? ^^

VanDyke, In fact I dislike rcon tools as you have to minimize the game everytime. Using rcon commands is much more comfortable
and if some moderator would be so kind and edit my post. it's really banuser and tempbanuser instead of ban/tempban

what quper means is look in you config_mp.cfg file, it has a list of all you binds (if u can't find it just search the key u bound it to)

depending on what rcon tool your using there is an option to disable logon notifications. i made a tutorial on it a while ago. look in the older private place threads for it.
