well u can try to find out the exact size of the card already in there (it's the red one) and then replace it with something the same size, but it'll be a tricky procedure. a computer like that isn't designed to be upgraded that much.

probably upgraded the ram and hard drive. if your up for it u can get a standard case and see if you can transfer the pc over into it.

changeing to another case is very simple as long as you know how to put a pc together. the only problem is that hp compaq doesn't use standard hardware so the mb and psu might not fit into another case. also if you want to use any of the newer graphics card your're gonna have 2 upgrade your psu to at least 500watt atm u have a 200watt. the way the graphics card connects to the mb in that case is by using this so there won't be any way of fitting a bigger card in. not to mention that the hp compaq uses a small size psu, u'll be hard pressed to find a 500watt psu that will fit in that case. so whether or not you want to try switching cases depends on how much confidence you have in your pc building skills. btw don't order anything until some other ppl give their opinions, som1 might have a better idea.

sorry 2 lazy to read all of it .. but.. the ATI HD 4870 is hugeeeee... as are alot of the neweer cards... but this 1 thing about it is that the power connectors stick out to the side where the case door/Panel is.. not to side of the optical drive/ HDD drives

this is my card.... plz note ( 1024 MB DDR5 RAM @ 750 Mhz clock speed, including a overclock mode ( enabled with a switch, no bios tuning, from 750 Mhz to 1000 Mhz.. has a HDMI port, a DSP port, a VGA and a port for a flatscreen.... also has 7.1 soundcard on it ... for instance when u got a game runnin on ur flatscreen TV : PC > amplifier with HDMI in > TV.. that way u got HD sound and HD VIDEO all through 1 cable... ) )

notice the 2x PCI cord pluggs(upper right hand corner ) .... my case is rather hugeeeee and it makes no diff. there although in reviews i read alot of people had to leave the side door / panel open bc of it.. my opion : buy a bigger case and stop crying

raw says u got a 200 watt PSU... get a new one!!!!!!! a lil more xpensive though GREAT QUALITY = Be Quite! 530W - 1200W if i was u and thinkin of gettin another one later..... i would get a 700W+ PSU.. that way u wouldnt have to get yet another one......

yeah twisted, u should of at least read half of it... he's using a pre-built pc... hp compaq. it's nice enough for office work and light gaming but no room for any real upgrades (you can add another 2 sticks of ram and change the hard drive/cd drive) and twisted i checked but i couln't find anywhere to buy the gainsward model 4870... so i'm gonna stick with my xfx (double unlimited lifetime warranty), the power plugs r also in the normal spot. btw if my side window wouldn't close b/c of the card then i would just cut a little whole in it... it's not worth leaving it open, gets full of dust.
